Let’s face it. We’re all having a tough time managing stress lately. Along with losing sleep and feeling drained (physically and/or mentally), staying emotionally centered can be a challenge. With stress and health concerns at an all-time high, many of us are looking for new ways to bring our mind and body into balance.

The good news is that you can take back control of your health by making smarter lifestyle choices. Whether you’re looking to improve your physical health, mental health or both, taking supplements is an excellent first step.

Here are three I highly recommend:

1.     Ashwagandha

When it comes to lowering systematic stress in the body, ashwagandha is one of my favorite supplements. As an adaptogen, ashwagandha helps keep the body in balance – specifically, controlling the adrenal glands, which release the stress hormone cortisol.

Known for its’ healing properties, ashwagandha can naturally treat rheumatologic problems, helping to lower pain and inflammation. Also, it acts as an antibacterial and is scientifically-proven to reduce bacterial infections.

2.     Thorne B Complex #6

This supplement contains high quality essential B vitamins along with extra B6 for optimal brain function support. Along with promoting brain health, B vitamins positively affect your energy levels, metabolism and play a major role in your overall health and wellbeing.

Whether you’re experiencing migraines, depression, anxiety, stress, menstrual pain, or fatigue, B-complex vitamins can help.

3.     Adaptogens

Lions Mane

It’s no secret chronic inflammation can lead to a long list of health issues, and anxiety is at the top of the list. With natural anti-inflammatory capabilities, lion’s mane can have positive effects on your mental state. And science confirms it. Lion’s mane extract can reduce symptoms of depression , and enhance brain function.

Cordyceps

This traditional Chinese herb is particularly helpful when it comes to treating immune-related diseases. Studies show there’s a long list of cordyceps’ beneficial effects on the human body: immune, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anti-aging, neuroprotective, and more.

Reishi

A popular treatment in Eastern Medicine, reishi contains triterpenoids, polysaccharides and peptidoglycans – all of which contributes to their natural healing power.

According to research, the reishi mushroom can boost the immune system, combat infection by creating more natural killers (NK) cells, fight fatigue and reduce depression.

While eating well is important, it’s difficult to get all the vitamins and nutrients you need from diet alone. Supplements can help fill in the gaps – and these three will support optimal health and wellness.
